HERE WE GO AGAIN. SHUT DOWN. ERASE. REBOOT. REBUILD.

As the light of summer fades the still fresh carcass of another architectural pavilion is condemned, while hundreds of versions of its replacement wait in the wings. All of them hopeful. Each with their own world of ideas, inherent biases, intellectual and architectural paradigms.

But does it have to be like that? What if the next incarnation of the NGV Architecture Commission was an iteration, or a remnant of a design that had gone before? This is not a new idea. It is a not a radical idea. But in a world of waste, both cultural and physical, to work within the existing, to edit, alter, re-purpose and version is an act of defiance. We propose a design that actively re-purposes, re-uses & re-imagines the historical remnant through the act of physical and affective versioning.
